About Us

As a training partnership, Robin and Jane Walford worked together since the early 1990s offering psychotherapy training and supervision but now focus solely on professional development for the qualified practitioner. They have a wealth and depth of experience that is both diverse and rare, and they welcome working with practitioners from a broad range of theoretical models and styles of working.

Robin WALFORD, MA TSTA

Ex-Director, LCPD

Robin was a Psychotherapist (UK Council for Psychotherapy registered), a Teaching and Supervising Psychotherapist, achieved a Masters degree in psychological therapies and was also an Anglican priest. He had over 40 years experience as a psychodynamic counsellor and later a Transactional Analyst psychotherapist in private clinical practice working with individuals and couples. He worked for a number of years for the National Health Service. Robin had considerable experience as a trainer and supervisor and in addition to his active role within the training programmes at LCPD he taught as a visiting trainer in a wide variety of settings. He was passionate about teaching and sharing his knowledge with qualified practitioners through training and CPD groups. He held the UKATA Medal for services to Transactional Analysis and particularly for his contribution to ethics.

Due to ill health Robin retired from practice in December 2019.  He died on 23rd January 2020. His profile remains on the LCPD website in recognition of his significant contribution to both LPTI and LCPD over almost 30 years.

Jane WALFORD, MBChB MRCPsych TSTA

Director, LCPD

Jane’s original training was in medicine and psychiatry. She qualified as a UKCP registered psychotherapist in 1992 and trained psychotherapists and counsellors from 1994-2012. Her current interests and focus are her supervision practice, training courses at LCPD and facilitating continuing professional development groups and courses for qualified practitioners. She runs a number of lively, stimulating and supportive CPD groups for counsellors, psychotherapists and supervisors from a wide range of modalities. Jane believes that professional learning doesn’t end with qualification and her aim is to create a safe, supportive and suitably challenging environment where professional development can continue for practitioners throughout their practice.
